ATTENTION: Event will be held at hotel Euroopa Conference Center, 2. floor hall Ida-Euroopa.

Agenda:

  • A peek to Taxify engineering – behind the scenes.  By Rain Johanson, Head of Engineering @ Taxify.Taxify was founded in 2013 and has hundreds of thousands of users by now in the Baltics and Finland, planning to expand in four European countries in he beginning of 2015, getting 1.4 million euro investment at the end of 2014. Rain will give you a brief overview of the systems Taxify is building and will talk about what are the challenges in building a product for hundreds of thousands of users.
  • Internet of things meets blockchain. By  Maria Pääsuke (QA) & Maroš Kotula (Java Developer) @ Ignite.Merchants and consumers are looking forward to reducing operational costs. As alternative to expensive centralized banking transfers decentralized payment system has proved its effectiveness in reducing costs associated to transferring a value and acquiring assets. Another growing trend is the Internet of Things (IoT) mesh network, which is able to communicate through Internet, Bluetooth and mesh at the same time and therefore maintain stable connection within the network. Decentralized payments and IOT mesh network can be a synergy. Monetization of physical assets involved within the Internet of Things (IoT) mesh networks is possible. The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the growing network of physical objects that feature an IP address for internet connectivity. The communication occurs between these objects and other Internet-enabled devices and systems.Imagine IoT devices that are able to trade their data and services. Each product or service can be paid for using token. Token is created by the decentralized application and is easily transferable from peer to peer for example via the bitcoins blockchain. The decentralized application manages payment addresses that can be assigned to each IOT device for data or service that one might want to acquire.

Devclub #025

Greetings!

The XXV DevClub will take place on the 17th of December at 19.00 in Oru Hotel.

Another year is ending and of course we can not end it properly without a DevClub event. What makes it very special is that it’s already the 25th DevClub. As it’s an anniversary then we have some very special treats for you!

The first two are:

  • Popular 5-minute lightning-talks with some pretty cool people and topics up our sleeves.
  • And a very practical workshop- Code Kata, by Erik Jõgi (Codeborne):

Let’s practice programming again! Maybe it will make our daytime jobs slightly easier.

This time I will propose a Code Kata where there is no code yet- just a clear target. No more clues- to make it more interesting when you’re there.

Just like last time- there is no language restriction- everyone is welcome. And we’ll also try pair programming again- so if you don’t have a laptop- come anyway. We will find you a pair. And if you do have a laptop- bring it along. With your favourite IDE set up.  So get ready for the last DevClub this year- it’s going to be awesome and sweet with gingerbread and mulled wine!

PS! If someone is interested in making a 5-minute presentation on any subject then just let us know: devclub-ee@googlegroups.com. A small present is quaranteed 😉

See you already on the 17th of December at Oru Hotel!
