Pair-programming demo
Anton Keks, Andrei Solntsev (Codeborne)
Are you aware of how pair programming actually works? Don’t they annoy each other? Aren’t they too noisy? How do they read news and facebook at work?We at Codeborne use pair programming as everyday practice. We find it really effective. We will make a short demonstration of pair programming. You will see how it actually happens in real life.
February DevClub will be hosted by Pipedrive. So all DevClubers are most welcome @ Pipedrive Office, Paldiski mnt 80 (G4S house). The event will be held on 16th of February at 19:00, at the 6th floor hall.
AGENDA
1. Queues, queues, queues. How RabbitMQ enables reactive architectures.

Martin Tajur is the CTO and Co-Founder of Pipedrive, the sales pipeline management tool used by well over 10,000 businesses worldwide. Having background in design and systems engineering, he built and shaped core systems during most of Pipedrive’s existence until mid 2015. He now evaluates new tools and technologies, and takes part in long term architecture planning at Pipedrive. What will Martin talk about? In a system architecture discussion a few weeks ago, a colleague of mine said “if an organization is large enough, the only things you’ll hear its engineers talk about are queues.” Obviously it takes more than just queues to form a good systems architecture — or any kind of system at all for that matter — but queues are crucial nevertheless. If one looked at floor plans of small, medium and large airports, one easily notices the growing correlation between the overall size of the airport and floor space allocated to … queues. Martin will share some war stories from their use of RabbitMQ at Pipedrive during the last 3,5 years, covering use cases, philosophies as well as tips and tricks. Also covering reactive manifesto, async communication and message routing patterns, scalability and how to good care of your RabbitMQ instances.
2. Digital Signatures: Estonia vs The World.

Anton Keks is Co-Owner and developer at Codeborne. What will Anton talk about? It is really easy to identify a website visitor and get their legally valid digital signature in Estonia. All the necessary tools for that were provided to all the Estonian citizen and residents already 15 years ago. When I faced all the problems with digital signatures in Russia I started to appreciate much more what have been built in our country in this field. In this talk I’ll cover how it all works and what parts of infrastructure other countries miss and what has to be built from scratch. I will also explain why it is important to have two keys on ID card and how convenient it is to work with in Java.
See you on 16th of February, 19:00 @ Pipedrive Office.
PS! Event will be held in English.
Greetings!
The XXVI DevClub will take place on the 10th of April at 19.00 in Oru Hotel.
May be you have noticed that DevClub.ee hasn’t been “so active” in the beginning of this year. But we are back and intend to be even better. It is not an April joke 🙂 This time:
- Anton Keks (Co-Owner and developer at Codeborne) will talk about “Apache Cordova”. It is fashionable to discuss and make native applications for mobile – they are faster, more beautiful, more fashionable, though several times more expensive to develop. This is a temporary trend, while HTML and mobile processors become faster – just as happened in the great migration of desktop applications to the Web. In the meantime, the best compromise of performance and price – it’s a hybrid solution: HTML and some native code for each platform. For this we use Apache Cordova 3 (heir PhoneGap) and are ready to share the experience!
- Pärtel Tomberg (CEO and Co-Founder of isePankur) will talk about “From dorm room to 80,000 customers in 29 countries”. A talk on building an idea into a tech business, pivoting, raising funding, recruiting and using complex modelling for acquiring customers across the globe.
Talks will be in English. So, do not miss this great opportunity!
See you on the 10th of April at Oru Hotel!
Tervitus! Järgmine DevClub kohtumine toimub 10.aprillil, kell 19.00 Oru hotellis.
Taavi Talvik teemaga “Erlang”
Erlang on viimasel ajal üks kiiremini populaarsust kogu programmeerimiskeel. Alguse sai 20+ aastat tagasi Ericssoni soovist kirjutada töökindlat tarkvara lihtsamini, kui olemasolevad vahendid võimaldasid. Tänasel internetiajastul nimetavad paljud kasutajad Erlangi programmeerimiskeel salarelvaks massiivsete “internet scale” süsteemide tegemisel alates skaleeruvusest, 10x kõrgemast tööviljakusest jms.
Tänaseks päevaks on Erlan selliste asjade taga nagu: Amazon SimpleDB, Facebook chat, Heroku, Activisioni mänguserverid, CouchDB, Riak, Taani e-haiguslugu jne.
Vahepalaks teeb Skype väikese üllatusettekande 🙂
Andrei Solntsev ja Anton Keks teemaga “Open-source Codeborne”
Andrei ja Anton esitlevad kaht uut open-source library’t, mille Codeborne on hiljuti reliisinud: Mobile-Id ja Selenide. Mobile-ID library võimaldab väga lühikese API-ga kasutada Mobile-ID teenust, ning Selenide võimaldab mugava API-ga Acceptance Teste kirjutada. Mõlemat library’t juba kasutatakse reaalsetes projektides. Andrei ja Anton teevad demo ja näitavad, kuidas neid mõlemat kasutada reaalse veebirakenduse näitel.
